NIG commends N75.2b NPSCS fund for e-policing project

The President of the Nigeria Internet Group, NIG, Adebayo Banjo, has hailed the establishment of the N75.2 billion Public Security Communications System, NPSCS, project for the enhancement of e-policing and public safety in the country.
Banjo said that the project was cheering because ‘’major foreign Original Equipment Manufacturers, OEM,’’  had ‘’consistently shunned the idea of citing assembly plants in Nigeria, blaming infrastructural deficit as a major challenge.’’ Banjo’s position on the issue was contained in a statement signed by an official of the NIG, Mr Fidelis Orji, in Lagos yesterday.
He also said that the development would soon attract the establishment of a N1.6 billion Liquid Crystal Display, LCD, manufacturing plant by the RLG, in Ogun State as well as the ‘’African mobile telephone personal computers.’’
Banjo particularly said that the LCD project, aside from being the first in the country  when completed,  would attract about 120 million active telephone subscribers.
On the e-business conference with the  theme ‘’E-Business: Broadband Technology, an Important Tool for Accelerated Growth  and Development scheduled to hold at the Golden Gate Restaurant, Lagos between December 12 and 13, 2013, Banjo, explained that  ‘’e-business is simply an internet technology driven business and has continued to be a catalyst to accelerated economic growth in many countries globally.’’
According to him, ‘’with so many developments in the Nigeria Information and Communication Technology, ICT, sector, Nigeria has already joined the rest of the world in driving its economy with e-Business.’’
